Stroke in Asians shows a rising trend. In comparison with Western populations, stroke in Asians appears more likely due to small-vessel (lacunar) disease, intracranial atheroocclusive stenosis, and spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage. Public health measures are mandatory to introduce risk factor intervention and appropriate primary and secondary prevention measures. This is a review article.
