Hydatid disease of the skeletal system is a rare parasite infection. the incidence of bone involvement varies from 0.5 to 4 % in different countries. The lesion in bone may lie dormant for 10-20 years 5 and is usually detected after a pathological fracture. . The lesion though usually secondary to hepatic or pulmonary hydatidosis, may on occasion occur as a primary disease. . The reported prognosis for bone hydatidosis is poor since recurrence is frequent. We report a case of primary hydatid disease involving proximal femur and hip in a young female patient. The disease has been present for last ten years, now presented with pathological fracture of femur. We resected the diseased segment of bone and patient is kept on oral albendazole.
