The histopathological audit is necessary to monitor the quality of work being carried out in the histopathology department. It is a process to detect inadequacies, to update procedures and for an improved final diagnosis. Furthermore with the change of staff at all level, there is a tendency for previously set standards to be modified and for the level of care to alter. This is a review article.
