Development of MCQs seems a simple, relatively easy and straightforward task. There are however many pitfalls in the construction process which make the questions ambiguous or ineffective for objective1, valid, assessment. In the ensuing pages some guidelines for MCQs construction will be discussed. These guidelines and principles have been mostly applied to construction of single best type questions, but with a few exceptions the same rules can be used for construction of all types of MCQs.
