Long term follow up of patients undergoing Coronary Stenting

All patients who presented to the clinic at the Mid East Medical Centre, Clifton, Karachi for follow up after PCI (stent implantation), by the author were assessed through history, physical examination, 12 lead ECG, Echo, E.T.T or Thallium Stress test at 4 months, 6 months and one year. Patients coming for follow-up at 4 months & there after were included in this study. A total of 172 patients were included. Echo was available in 72% patients & ETT/Thallium test in 67% patients. RESULTS: 146 (82%) were males & 23 (18%) were females. Mean age of patients was 57 year +/- 11 years. Out of a total of 212 vessels stented, left anterior descending artery (LAD) was stented in 74.5% patients. Right Coronary Artery (RCA) was stented in 30% & circumflex in 21% of the patients. In the proximal LAD (n=123) mean diameter was 3.07 mm with a range of 2.5-4.0 mm & the mean length of the stent was 14.5 mm with a range of 8 mm to 33 mm. 33 mm stents were usually drug elulting stents. Left circumflex average diameter was 3.25 and the length of the stent as 15.2 mm.
