Blood Magnesium levels in Males and Females of varying Age

Magnesium levels in whole blood samples of 67 healthy volunteers (mean 6.465 ± 0.221 mg/dl), of Rawalpindi General Hospital have been determined by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometric method. Magnesium levels of 41 male and 26 female subjects including doctors, nurses, patient attendants, medical students, sweepers and peons of Rawalpindi General Hospital revealed the normal mean blood levels of 6.088 ± 0.258 mg/dl in males and 7.060 ± 0.375 mg/dl in females, this difference was found statistically significant (P<0.05).
