Ultrasound in diagnosis of Hydatidiform Mole

Object. Ultrasound in diagnosis of hydatidiform mole. Setting: The Aga Khan University Medical center, Karachi. Method: It was a retrospective study. we reviewed the sonographic interpretation and sonography, when available from all patients with 1st and 2nd trimester hydatidiform moles diagnosed at our institution from Ian 1997 fan 2002. Results: Out of 10 patients diagnosed on histology as hydatidiform moles, 8 ultrasounds were performed at our institution, the mean age at time of presentation was 12wks, we encountered 3 cases, each of complete and partial hydatidiform mole, in remaining 2 cases diagnosis was missed in one case and was considered as second diagnosis in the other The typical sonographic appearance of molar pregnancy was complex echogenic intrauterine mass containing small cystic spaces.
