Frequency of Anemia in Pediatric out patient department

District Headquarter Hospital, Sialkot

Objective: To study the prevalence of anemia among children attending a paediatric outpatient department (OPD) in a District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ). Method: All infants and children between the ages of 1-month to 12-years were included to analyze their hemoglobin concentration. Result and discussion: In our study 32 children (44.44% of total) had hemoglobin of less than 10 gram percent. None of the children between the ages of 1-6 months and 6-12 years fall under the 7-gram percent level. Six children, 8.3% had severe anemia - hemoglobin less than 7 G%.
