Safety of lumbar Myelography in outpatients results of 160 cases using Iohexol (Omnipaque)

A prospective study was carried out in Radiology Department of Hayatabad Medical Complex to assess the safety of Lumbar Myelography in Out-patients. 160 cases from September 2000 to February 2002 were studied by performing Lumbar Myelography using iohexol under fluoroscopic guidance. 48% of the subjects didn`t develop any side effects after the procedure, 23% had mild, 25% had moderate and only 4.3% had severe side-effects. We conclude that Lumbar Myelography is a safe procedure which can be used conveniently in Out-patients.
