Isolated Subtalar dislocation
J Med Sci Jan 2003;11(1):66-8.
Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar

Isolated dislocation of subtalar joint is a rare entity and very little literature is available on it. It is caused by high energy injuries or road traffic accidents. We present a case of isolated subtalar joint dislocation caused by forced inversion injury to the foot while playing cricket. The diagnosis was confirmed by x-rays of the foot. After giving intravenous analgesia and sedation the dislocation was reduced by applying traction and back slab was applied for 4 weeks. Follow-up x-rays showed perfect reduction and the patient made an uneventful recovery.
