Bacteriological examination of bile in chronic Cholecystitis

15 female patients, (13 Non Diabetics, 2 Diabetics) suffering from chronic cholecystitis underwent cholecystectomy. Bacteriological examination of bile was positive in 2 (13%) Diabetics while this was negative in rest of 13 (87%) non diabetics. Routine use of antibiotics in chronic choleystitis is not justified as there were no infective complications in this group.
