Pak Postgrad Med J Sep 2001;12(3):102-3.
PGMI, Lahore
Chemical acidification of wounds has been shown to increase the healing rate. An improved healing rate has been reported by different surgeons. Bacteria survive under different pH. If the pH is changed, bacteria would stop growing. Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection of bone and soft tissue is not uncommon. Ordinary antiseptic solutions like pyodine do not help in cleaning the wound. 1% acetic acid was used in more than 40 patients between 1995 to 2001 in different teaching hospitals of Lahore.
