Stapled hemorrhoidectomy / anoplasty: A study at K.V.S.S. Site hospital, Karachi
Pak J Surg Jun 2003;19(1):9-12.
K. V. Social Security SITE Hospital & Hamdard Medical College, Karachi

This study, the first of its kind in Pakistan, was carried out on 15 patients, 11 males and 4 females, to assess the outcome of Stapled Haemorrhoidectomy / Anoplasty, which is a new and innovative surgical technique for the treatment of third degree / prolapsed haemorrhoids. Our experience of Stapled Haemorrhoidectomy suggests that it is a better procedure in all aspects. Besides the drastic improvement in the cosmetic appearance, there is marked reduction in the post-operative pain, lesser hospital stay and early resumption to work. However, the cost of the stapling gun makes it a slightly expensive operation.
