Success rate of re-root canal treatment at a teaching hospital

Objective of the study was to evaluate the frequency of success after re-root canal treatment. It was conducted at Armed Forces Institute of Dentistry (ARID), Rawalpindi from April 2002 to April 2004. A clinical and radiographic evaluation of 100 patients who required re-treatment after first endodontic failure were included in the study and frequency o f success after re-treatment was assessed. In this study, our success rate was 83% but 17% cases still failed which required surgical endodontics extraction.
