Incidence of adenomyosis in hysterectomies

During 2000 to 2003 a total of 296 hysterectomy specimen were received from private clinics and were processed in Anwar clinical laboratory swat. The indications for hysterectomies were dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Adenomyosis was found in 20.6 % of the specimen studied. In these biopsy specimen other associated diseases were also noted. The object of the study was to find the incidence of adenomyosis which is a common cause of dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
