Inflammatory Pseudopolyposis

A 31 year old male working in a five star hotel was referred to the radiology department for barium enema examination by the physician. He had history of bloody diarrhea for last one year. Ultrasound examination showed nothing insignificant. Findings The colon has been well outlined by double contrast from Rectum to Cecum. A normal looking appendix was also visible. The ileo-cecal valve was competent and no contrast entered the ileum. Rectum and Sigmoid colon had normal mucosal pattern. The caliber was normal. No mass or filling defect seen. The Descending and the Transverse colon were carpeted with polyp formation. Most of the polyps measured less 5mm but some were bigger than 1cm. There was no narrowing of the lumen. No ulcers seen extending beyond the mucosal lining. ,4 part of ascending colon again appear to be normal, with normal haustrations and mucosal pattern. Polyp formation was also present in Cecum. Here the mesenteric border appeared to be more involved. (asymmetric involvement). Due to competent valve, the ileo-cecal region was not visualized The caliber of the colon was normal through out.
