Irritable Bowel Syndrome - A Clinical Comparison of Mebeverin and Phloroglilicinol

It is the most common GI disorder affecting 15-20% of the population at any given time and constitutes 50% of referrals to the gastroenterologist. it is a disease of young or middle-aged adults; the female-to-male ratio is 4:1. Treatment is unsatisfactory and heavily revolves around a correct diagnosis and reassurance. In terms of five major symptoms i.e., urge to defecate, gas, abdominal pain diarrhea and constipation, the clinical efficacy of mebeverin vs phloroglucinol was determined in an open cross over study.
