Advanced WHO-IRTC/UNIL course on immunology, vaccinology and biotechnology applied to leishmaniasis

This Course will be held at the WHO Immunology Research and Training Centre, chemin des Boveresses 155, CH-1066 Epalinges/Lausanne, Switzerland, within the Center for Immunity and Infection Lausanne (CIIL). It will be organized specifically for English-speaking candidates from disease endemic countries.
Programme
The Course will be conducted in English. The course focuses on Leishmaniasis, with modules including epidemiology, diagnosis, immunology, biosafety, drug and vaccine development. A practical session will be organized, during which participants will perform techniques related to immune response to Leishmania infection.
Selection criteria
- Have an excellent knowledge of English
- University degree: doctorate of medicine (MD), PhD in microbiology or other biological sciences. The course is also open for advanced PhD students.
- Be actively engaged in research, national public health services, or in teaching.
- Be under 40 years of age.

- a mandatory letter of motivation: the candidates should send details of their scientific work and background, explaining their interest in the Course in a letter to Pr. Fabienne Tacchini-Cottier
- a Curriculum Vitae
- 2 letters of reference, and 1 institutional letter of support
Only selected candidates will be contacted by e-mail (or FAX), to inform them of their selection.
Selected candidates will receive a fellowship allowance for living expenses in Switzerland, during the course. In addition, few travel awards will be granted.
