Re: Re: Standard of Residency training in the country

I am not pointing fingers as when I point one finger four points to me.

As the economy of the country is, it is last thing in mind to try to change system while without pay.

THESE PFOFESSOR ARE REALLY ********. But luckily in Pakistan there is no reference system, and if this did exist one can go to opponent lobby to get JOB

IT is credibility of FRCS even if in general which pays as compared to FCPS and this was my meaning to mention qouting my example.
This discussion is over from my side

Re: Standard of Residency training in the country

If there is no organized residency program at a teaching hospital it is high time that residents and students start taking a proactive role in creating one. Residents can get together and form a residency Program committee. Contact other teaching hospitals within and outside the country who do have a residency program and get guidance. Senior residents start teaching junior resident. Plan what you want to do over the 3, 4 or 5 year of residency training. Look at the requirements for FCPS and other international specialty boards and prepare yourselves accordingly. There will be a learning curve and things will begin to improve. Extreme dedication and enthusiasm will positively contribute to a teaching environment. The Residency Program committee should meet with the departmental head and the Dean of the medical school. You have to persevere and not give up if you can not schedule a couple of meetings. You can not put all the blame on your teachers and professors. Each resident should do a self evaluation. Residents should also take responsibility and be present for all teaching opportunities and sincerely fulfil their duties and obligations.

Pointing fingers, continuous despair, and criticism without a remedial solution can not help anyone get off a desperate situation. There is no easy shortcut to hard work. Disrespecting your teachers and professors on a website will be detremental to your careers and future.

Re: Standard of Residency training in the country

IT IS JUNGLE OUT THERE, NO RESIDENCY, NO AUDIT, NO TRAINING. ONE GETS TRAINED JUST BY OBSERVING AND BECOMES A QUACK AS I AM. PROFESSORS ARE DUMBEST PERSONS, ALL SYSTEM NEEDS CHANGE, BUT LET IT DEMOLISH FIRST. THEN A NEW SYSTEM WILL ERUPT .

Standard of Residency training in the country

I want to ask trainees what do they think about the standard of residency training in various parts of the country. Like formal teaching, attitude of consultants with trainees, Standard of care to patients, Hands on experience , Research etc. Please be liberal to participate.
