Re: BUNDERS OF JPMA AND JCPSP

I agree that most academics in Pakistan are underqualified. They never had a formal training in research and peer-reviewing. But I guess the situation is quite similar elsewhere.

I think a online-journal is a good idea. It has to be consistent and transparent. Though people at the top may not recognise it until it is indexed.

I am more than happy to contribute.

Re: Blunders by mafia at journals full of plagiarism

I agree with Dr. Ijaz Ali that running an online journal is a big task and needs a group of people to run it. This group of people can be a formal organization or an informal group of people who take responsibility for running such a journal. Thus, the first and most important task is to collect a group of like-minded people with enough talent to run a journal. In my opinion, it needs at least a core group of about 5 people and a larger group of 30-50 people to run an online journal successfully.
As far as indexing a journal is concerned, one needs a journal first to get it indexed. Its indexing will depend on the quality of published manuscripts. Those who are interested in knowing more about the indexing guidelines for Medline can visit this link and its inlinks.

thank you for ur encouragement. Though i was not going to give up anyways.

Running a journal is a full time job and should somebody want to do that, he/she needs to have a significant infrastructure. Starting a journal is no big deal Running it is.So untill and unless some organisation takes the responsibility it would not be a success thats why i am proposing that the respective socities of various specialities should take up this work and improve their own journals and get them internationlly recognised.

Lastly as I already said we need to get more indexed journals rather than "any journals" to attract the international attention. this is a pity that in a country of 165 million we have just 3 indexed journal and of these 3 one of which is quarterly.

Ijazali:

Rejection is part of life and one sees it on a daily basis in various shapes. You can either deal with it in a cool collected manner or you can have an emotional outburst and ruin your day. I still think that name calling is uncalled for and has never solved any problem.
I am not here to solute or protect any one. I feel that academic reasearch in Pakistan is in its infancy and people should be encouraged to take part in it. Your frustration with the process may be genuine but that's what you have. You can choose to deal with it as you wish.
This IS an online journal and it would be nice if people would comment based on their clinical experiences rather than quoting from books etc.
Happy Pakistan Day to you all,
