Re: Telemedicine

Well ... there are several people who are currently working on Telemedicine in Pakistan. Recently, there was a 2nd telemedicine conference, being held in PC Hotel, Rawalpindi. There are several projects currently under progress, but they are still in terms of training of doctors. Practically, benefit to patients is not seen yet. One of the team, who is working on Telemedicine, is present in Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi. They have their own setup including high-bandwidth and video conferencing facilities. They have conducted few projects but not been able to help patients. Several other organizations in Karachi are working with Suparco to setup telemedicine centers between Karachi and interior Sindh.

The National Healthcare Group (NHG) Singapore, a government initiative of the Singapore government comprising two major hospitals of the country is running a telemedicine clinic in Karachi since 2003 in collaboration with Smart Health Care, Pakistan. I dont know how many patients are actually getting benefit and what are the actual charges.

I m afraid to tell you that non-health professionals are not allowed to post messages on this forum.
