Re: CV Risk Factors in South Asians
Not impressed. The problem and its solution, is visible. It does not make any difference if the article in in NY Times or NEJM.

Continuing the theme of original post in this thread, there are two 'Perspective' articles published in the most recent issue of NEJM regarding the burden of chronic diseases in developing world. Anyone interested in this particular topic may be interested in reading them (full text is free).
1. Obesity and Diabetes in the Developing World — A Growing Challenge By Hossain et al. http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/356/3/213
2. Expanding Priorities — Confronting Chronic Disease in Countries with Low Income by Anderson et al. http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/356/3/209

We must share knowledge and information with each other, that might be basic for one person and might be very informative for other. and we should not be so offensive. as we people know that we are lacking behind in clinical and basic science as compared to developed countries, so there is need to be cooperative and sharing of informations, that we must do.

There are realities of life and then there is emotional rhetoric. I think recognizing the reality of life and doing some constructive work, would be more beneficial then coming out here and talking meaningless crap. Pakistanis have to leave this sheep mentality and start acting on their own. No body has ever answered this question as to why Pakistanis are always looking for a free handout. Can you answer that?

Lets all believe that education has blunted our animal instincts but has not completely removed them . We still belive that ppl should be discriminated on race language religion and creed and considered superior and inferior. We think we are superior because we were born in a certain area or within a certain community.
JAMA is one of the leading medical journals in the world with an impact factor of 20+ , i belive it would be among the top 15 or 20 journals so its a great achievement to get into such a journal.
We all (including myself should stop calling god made ppl as Lilliputs and pigmies, since god wanted them to be like this and being judgemental on somebodys physical appearances only gives an idea about the mental level of the commentator.
Sincerely
