DHIKR ALLAH IS AKBAR (29/45)
The ultimate object and intention of all religions is gnosis of Allah (s.w.t).This is the real aim of Quran (51/56). The esoteric eye is the instrument of gnosis and commemorations of His personal name Allah (s.w.t) is its light (noor). The name Allah (s.w.t) is compendium of all commemorations and the elemental eye is the true seat of commemoration and the best method is to inscribe Allah within one’s self through concentration and meditation. All the other religious acts are inferior to it. While practising this some retreat and hinderances may be experienced by seeker.
The way to the illumination and life of the heart, proximity, observation, union and interview with God the most high can never be achieved without concentration on His personal name Allah. Though the seeker may bear severe austerities and exertion all his life long and languish like a hair but the heart will remain dead and dark. The external worship and physical acts may cleanse the elemental body but the path of the heart is quite a part and its procedure is also different.
The word Allah is the compendium of all His names and the most glorious one. A pronunciation of the word Allah indicates that it is composed of four letters ALLH. If the first A is removed it becomes LILLAH and there is no change in the meaning. It shows mediation and means for the divinity of God the Almighty. If the other letter L is also removed the word LAHU is left which indicates the relation of the personal pronoun. When second L is also removed, HU is left which points at the essence. In brief this name is unchangeable and remains constant in meaning and in all its four states Allah, Lillah, Lahu and Hu are themselves most great names. Every name is like a key for revelation and traversing of the four places of the path, the Shariat, Tariqat, Haqiqat and Ma’rifat viz the hierarchies of man, angel, power and Godhead. Through the commemoration and concentration of these four names the traveler passes all the veils, stages and places and becomes one with God the Most High.
“I was four; then I became three; now I am two:
I passed duality and become One.”
This is a unique in itself and such characteristic is not found in any other name except this one. In other words, the name Allah is reserved for etheric personality of the soul; its world is the hierarchy of man; place religious law and travel towards Allah. The second name Lillah is reserved for the etheric personality of the heart; its place is the path, world the hierarchy of the angels and travel for God. The etheric personality of the third name Lahu is the spirit; place the truth; world the hierarchy of power and travel with God. The fourth name is Hu. Its etheric personality is the secret; place gnosis, and word the hierarchy of God and travel with God. Every etheric personality has a different world, place, state and commemoration.
If one letter is removed from the middle of this name, Alah is left which is also a name of God. The different forms and parts of this name, Aali, Lahi, Ali and Ahi have been the names of God in different languages and at different times. It is said about Jesus (p.b.u.h) in the ancient books that his last words on the cross were: Ihli ! Ihli Lima Sabaqtani i.e O God! Why hast thou forsaken me? In those days the word Ihli was used in the sense of Allah. In short there are a thousand secrets in its A. In its L there are the lights of A,L,M, the doubtless books and the invisible world the H contains the He is one of the essence and directions for proximity of interview.
The second reason for its being the personal name is that every name of God the Most high is qualified by some qualification and every name indicates some special attributes and has no scope for any other attribute. Normally a prayer is made through some particular attributive name. For example we pray: O Merciful ! have mercy on me or O Provider ! Give me provision or O Knower ! give me knowledge. On the other hand we do not say, O knower! Give me provision or O merciful give me knowledge. But the name Allah is the compendium of all the attributes of God and indicates every attribute and help for every attribute of God can be sort through this name. Allah (s.w.t) says,
“Help can be sought from Allah with what ever
attribute you qualify Him.” (12/1

.
For example, we can say, O Allah! Give me knowledge. O Allah! Forgive me; etc. In the Holy Quran there are about 6666 verses and this name has appeared approximately 2150 times instead of every attributive name. It is in Quran that verily Allah (s.w.t) is forgiver and merciful. Verily Allah (s.w.t) is glorious, wise. Allah (s.w.t) is hearer and knower. Allah (s.w.t) is hearing and seeing. In short the name Allah (s.w.t) contains every attribute and collectively it is the manifestation of the different names. Another proof is that the Arabs derive a root for every name. This name can not be derived from. Any noun can not be derived from it neither it is derived from any noun. All the fundamentals of Islam are based on this noun, and on its affirmation a man becomes a Muslim and by its verification one becomes a faithful. For example in the word of faith, “There is none to be worshiped except Allah” is affirmation of this holy name. On the holy formulas of testimony, glorification, unification, this holy name is mentioned. All the surahs of Quran begin “In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.” In general at the commencement of every act we pronounce this name. It is recited in the glorification of slaughtering a lawful animal viz “Allah is Great” at the time of commencement of prayers. The succour of this name is solicited at the time of fighting a religious war with infidels by saying: “Allah is Great” and when a child is born this name is read in his ear. This name is proclaimed in the call for prayers. The opening surahs, verses of Chair, Chapter of sincerity and other Quranic surahs owe their superiority to this name. In short, the value and rank, honour and grandeur of all the holy verses and sacred formulas are due to this name. It is the Personal and Most Great name.
Every prophet and his followers of yore had been granted an attributive name which served for them as a personal name. That attributive name was the source of favours and perfection for them and revelation of the light of that name used to be the utmost end of their ascent. At the time of their supplication God the Almighty manifested to every prophet and to the saints among his followers through that name. Upon the creation of our prophet his holiness Muhammad (p.b.u.h) was kneaded with the light of the water of life of His Essence by Allah (s.w.t). Quran says:
“This day we have perfected for you the religion and
completed on you Our bounties and chosen for you Islam as
religion”(5/3).
The crown of the perfect religion was put on his head and he was honoured with the role of completion of bounties and the mantle of God’s eternal satisfaction with him. Our prophet (p.b.u.h) and his followers were granted the personal name. Also by his creation ended the chain of prophecy and he was made the last of the prophets and his religion and book abrogated all the former religions and books, respectively. Just as the land of house of Ka’ba was held in reverence some how or other at all times from the beginning of creation but in the days of his holiness (p.b.u.h) its honour and holiness reached the zenith of perfection.Every human body receives the light of God the Most High in accordance with his spaciousness and aptitude. As Quran says:
“Allah does not trouble anyone beyond his capacity”
(2/286)
All the prophets of the past had the power and endurance for the lights and illuminations of the attributive names. They lacked the aptitude and ability of withstanding the personal lights. The personal light of God the Most High comes in view at the time of interview and meeting. Just as the light of stars and moon vanish at the time of rising sun. No other prophet or messenger besides his holiness Muhammad (p.b.u.h) had attained the rank of interview and seeing (Him) Allah the Most High. Although some of them have expressed the desire of seeing Him and in accordance with their request God the Most High had cast a bit of illumination on them, but at the time of manifestation of the light of the essence they could not even maintain their bodily lives-not to mention of senses. The light of his holiness(p.b.u.h) was a personal one and his eyes were brightened with the personal collyrium of “His eyes did not fault”(17/53).He witnessed the personal manifestation of God the Most High riding the lift of His personal name Allah and was graced with personal interview. With the mercy of Allah (s.w.t) on the night of Meraj (ascent) our prophet (p.b.u.h) alone was honoured and singularized by God the Most High’s personal great sign, sciences and knowledge.
“Moses (p.b.u.h) lost his senses through a single flash of
attribute. You (p.b.u.h) are beholding the very essence and are smiling.”(Iqbal)
