No more DCPS!

The Council of the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan in its 133rd meeting held on 18 June, 2007 has decided to discontinue the Diploma of the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (DCPS) programme with effect from March 2008, and re-introduce earlier Membership (MCPS) programme. DCPS programme in Health Care Systems Management (HCSM) and Health Professions Education (HPE) shall continue to be held. Candidates who are already under training in other DCPS programmes shall be allowed to appear in MCPS examination on completion of prescribed requirements. Doctors possessing two year training with one year house job in relevant subject and registered during 2004 to 2005 and were not able to appear in MCPS examination shall also be eligible to appear in MCPS after its introduction in March 2008 and onwards. Those doctors who have been issued DCPS diploma can get it replaced by MCPS diploma on surrendering the original.
