The RCPE held its first St. Andrew's Day Festival Symposium in December 1961. This year, the College is organizing its 50th St. Andrew's Day Symposium . The symposium program will cover Eight Different Specialty Areas looking at key developments over the past 50 years, but still with the emphasis very much on current and emerging clinical management issues. The sessions that will be covered are Cardiovascular Medicine, Gastroenterology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Palliative Care, Renal Medicine & Respiratory Medicine. Highlights will be

The Ballantyne Lecture on “Our genetic inheritance: a decade on from sequencing the human genome” by Professor David Porteous while Baroness Ilora Finlay, Professor of Palliative Care, Cardiff University, will give the Sir James Cameron Lecture on “Palliative care – 2020 vision”.

Event is accredited by UK Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians, CPD Scheme (CPD approved activity code: 58033). The program is attached with this email. Timings here will be from 2 PM to 10 PM PST (Due to Time Zone difference). There is no fee for attendance but pre-registration is required especially for outside Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre participants.

It is an excellent opportunity to be able to attend an event of International magnitude, with focus on key areas of medicine which are also rapidly developing in Pakistan like Ethics in Genetics and Palliative care, while sitting here. We hope this to be the first of many such activities in future which we can view live and avail updates in fields of interest. I look forward to seeing you there.
