Opportunities for International Medical Graduates in Edmonton, Canada

Very true Ijaz Ali.

One of the main factors is that they get a lot of money there.

Dr. Khwaja said:

Well that is the problem! Everyone wants to help the country by just sending in "support" here and practicing there. Living abroad and being patriotic is not the way, in my view.

Does anyone of you has any suggestions for stopping this brain drain and for convincing people to practice here keeping in mind that:

1- They wont get paid as they would be in western countries.
2- Many many obstackes to be faced in reality.
3- You may have to face LOADS of dissapointments.
4- The health sector's structure is hopless here like any other department.
And also what would benefits they have, if they practice here.

Dear Collegues,

Let me make a few points here:

Look at the standard of care in Pakistan , is there any certain government or Private institution that we can proudly say do more than routine surgeries o r procedures. How many Govt institutions have working CT scans , does any Govt Institution have MRI and other diagnostic Facilities. The Problem is that not even small hospitals but even huge teaching hospitals have hardly ANY MODERN HEALTH CARE FACILITY . Few reasons are lack of ineterst on part of the Govt (they have better issues to deal with rather than the Problem of these STINKING POOR AND CONDEMNABLE AWAM ) , a second very important reason is Lack of Trained Medical professionals which is obviously related to the first reason as well (people feel what they will do when there is nothing but politics in those hospitals) , The people which are in the teaching hospitals are mostly not well trained and try not to make any trouble with authorities so that no trouble is made for their Crapy work and private practices.

I donot know how we can solve all this Mess but all I can do is Pray to the almighty God to forgive us for the SINS of OUR Leaders and donot Punish us for the wrong doing which we havenot done.

I hope if atleast we keep working a day will come when we will be able to compete with countries like Bhutan, Bangladesh, Somalia , Ghana and Nigeria and Tanzania in our health care standards we just donot have to loose heart. I believe this is a realistic approach rather than competing with western countries.

Dear Brothers,
Pakistan is a great country full of allsort of resources. Unfortunately there has been a lack of good leadership. There are countless very talented people who are struggling to serve their country working against all odds while staying inside Pakistan. A significant number of Pakistanis abroad ( probably the majority) do wish to support these patriotic people.
Trust, mutual cooperation, dedication, self esteem, a little open heartedness to accomodate and study various aspects of an issue, tolerance and avoidance of Blames will help furthering our struggle for excellene.
May Allah help us and give us the courage to take the challanges facing us currently and give us the vision to shape our future.

Re: Opportunities for International Medical Graduates in Edmonton, Canada

Dear Dr Nizam,

Thanks for your concern. I want to let you know few facts . Pakistan is a very poor country with almost no trained human resource especially no medical professionals. There are hundreds and thousands of quaks in our country which are making the life of poor and simple people a hell I understand that people living in the West have all the great facilities and getting there is great opportunity but please desist from your efoorts from further depriving my country of the already little number of Doctors. " WE DESPERATELY NEED DOCTORS IN PAKISTAN AND CANNOT AFFORD ANY BRAIN DRAIN".

Secondly ppl who are surgeons or physicians in their country you are inviting them for a career as surgical assistants which in the states is performed by Physicians Assistants (PA) which are not even medical Doctors.

Stay happy in your Paradise BUT you must have heard one saying
" IT IS BETTER TO RULE IN HELL THAN TO SERVE IN HEAVEN" though let me tell u that Pakistan is Masallah a Paradise for us .

let us try to stop that brain Drain.

ANYWAYS I WHOLE HEARTEDLY INVITE YOU TO COME TO PAKISTAN AND PRACTICE THERE AS A HONOURABLE AND RESPECTED CONSULTANT AND WE WILL GIVE YOU MORE RESPECT THAN WHAT YOU ARE RECIEVING IN CANADA , ARE U READY FOR THAT.

Sincerely
ijaz
