the things is CMAJ is one of the journals with a very high impact factor and journals like these should not just only be funny, they should be useful too. I wouldnot like my ear to be treated like this , this is not an emergency , he could have been in any local hospital in 2-3 hrs and had this thing dealt with. I do find comical that the authors after that water gun recommends it to be used for future ear work , its only to get a publication. No other intention.

It is for sure funny and makes an amusing reading but we should'nt discard every thing as does not conform to our likings as absurd (after all place your self in the shoes of that patient and see how much grateful he would have been after the removal of wax)... the e letters response to this article also provide some food for thought... and i would request some colleague from ENT to comment upon it as this is basically their domain

some clever guy got a publication by making some stupid editor more stupid. I didnot know that CMAJ has become such a substandard journal. Its definitely pathetic, not sure about hilarious.Its just
a junk publication.
