Re: Re: An aptitude test for Doctors!
I do not know if I am an ER doc that paticular patient has CIPA .Okay pt is not responding to pain so do not give Morphine. But start from ABCD....WHY WE FORGET THAT?
If there are only few cases of this disorder trust me I am not the one who is handling him/her where I work

Having said that I guess instead of going into zebra hunting stabalizing the patient is the most important thing after getting Vitals and putting IVs in. Do C-Spine stabalization..you will get battery of regular trauma tests ...and go from there. It wont matter to me as this patient is feeling pain or not I have to still look for each and every fracture he/she might have right?
So may be I didnt get your question or you should just post what you think is going to be more scholary discussion

meaning here is how you treat the patient with this ZEBRA SYMDROME.
Thanks anyway!

Re: Re: An aptitude test for Doctors!
I dont think that this is an appropriate answer and doesnt make any sense....Dr Ali asked about the academic discussion not how the patient would be seen..In private or in hospital

An aptitude test for Doctors!
Dear Ali
Thank you for your post and sharing this thing with us....But let me answer your second mail first...In USA there are dozens(rather hundreds ) of online medical forums which are very active ...In Pakistan there are only few and that too not very active..These forums are mostly visited by trainees in search of literature or sharing their experience with others...while consultants and senior doctors rarely visit these forums....As you yourself have mentioned that this condition is very rare so it is highly unlikely that most of the visiting trainee doctors have ever seen a case...
Secondly you might have noticed that your post was read by 46 people in 4 days (till 5th June 0700hrs) so please don't expect that every body reading the post will be in a position to answer
And last but not the least...In USA the literature search services are excellent while here in Pakistan , they are pathetic at the best...like i am trying to look up your condition in full text articles but having a great difficulty...
i am not defending the poor research orientation in our local doctors...All i want to say is that your condition has generated interest in some doctors like me and we will get back with some thing in near future
Regards
Farooq
