Logistic Regression is used when the dependent variable is categorical with any kind of independent variable. Binary logistics regression is used when dependent variable has two categories, multinational logistic regression is used when we have dependent variable with more than two categories. If the dependent variable id ordinal(having specific order) them ordinal logistic regression is use.
General, logistic regression is used to identify any relationship between the depend variable and independent variable(s) in non-linear manner.
Chi-square is used to see any association between two categorical variables (with more or equal 2 categories), it only tells if there is any association.
