Margin of Error

Hello everybody,
Nice to be here
I am looking for some rear cells by fluorescent staining. I need to know the number of cells I should count to get a satisfactory precision.
I figured I should look at the margin of error. Usually I get a count of my cells between 1% and 5% of all the cells in the sample, and I count about 1000-1500 cells. Using the formula for
margin of error=0.98/sqrt(N) (95% CI)
at N=sample size=1000
I get 3.099%.
Now what does it mean for my value of 1.43%? That it is actually not different from 4.4% That would be too sad

Any ideas?
Thank you
