Re: Statistical techniques

The answer will require writing book on statistics, but briefly:

t-test: When you want to comapre one continuous and one categorical variable with only two levels.

Analysis of variance: comparing a continuous variable with a categorical variable with more than two levels.

Pearson correlation: Two continuous variables.

Chi Square: Two categorical variables.

Spearman: Two variables that are ordinal.

Median: There are several tests available for comparing medians. Median (instead of mean) is tested when a distribution cannot be assumed.
