Dear Dr Akhtar,
Thanks for your interest. There are a number of projects that we are working on, varying from pharmacokinetics of antiepileptic medications, health economics, stigmata associated with epilepsy etc. Other projects can be developed based on the resources available to you. If you are interested please send me details regarding the number of patients seen, types of therapies available and if there is any infrastructure for basic research. Please write me directly at nizam672003@yahoo.com
Best regards,
Nizam Ahmed

What is the treatment of Resistant Epilepsy?
And what options are available for pregnant women?

Medically resistant epilepsy is only diagnosed once a person has failed two or more conventional antiepileptic medications, appropriate for the seizure classification in optimum doses. The term conventional antiepileptic medications often refers to phenytoin, carbamazepine and valproate. In patients with localization related epilepsy (partial seizures with or without secondary generalization) surgery is an option. The presurgical evaluation usually encompasses a good quality MRI, neuropsychological testing, EEG-telemetry recording and in selected cases intracranial EEG. If all or most seizures are originating from a common focus surgery can be considered.

So what topic have you chosen for reasearch ?
Generally In Pakistan best is some incidence prevalence or pathology based study . Otherwise with suitable guidance machine based study is even better .
Need ideas ?
