want to know how to do research
hi, im Aysha, in 4th year mbbs,want to do research,but dont have any idea how to do...can anyone guide me in selecting topics and tell me the procedure...i willbe very grateful ..

The most simple guideline to do the research is:
1. Research can only be done with contribution of others, never think that you will be able to do it alone
2. Always write what you want to do in the form of proposal as described:
3. Introduction : Identify the problem in the light of bibliography and previous research (what, where, when) e.g. care of hepatitis C patients in Pakistan at present
4. Objectives : Try to have only one objective e.g. Factors associated with improved quality of life during interferon treatment of hepatitis patient
5. Develop methods as used before on similar topics e.g. what are the factors that improve care(sex, age, income, type of trating hospital, type of physician, time spent with patient, number of consultations, psychological consultation etc), how to measure quality of life (standard questionnaire used by other studies, define what is improve quality of life and justify your choice), how to reach population, define number of patients, who will do it, how etc
6. Improve your proposal by discussing it with your friends and senior doctors and perhaps with those who are not doctors like social workers on practical aspects (why you want to do this study, what is the benefit)
7. Rest motivated till completion and always try to publish your work whatever the results are so that others can benefit with your efforts

Dear pakmedinet fellow!
AoA.
I would like 2 add something to unlock ur mind for ur research orientation.
1. Give top priority 2 ur subject of interest, i.e. Medicine
2. Sort out the topics those reauire RE+SEARCH, i.e. mechanism of sleep in physiology, the deep study of dreams in psychiatry
3. Make a list of all these topics of reserch in ur already formed diary
4. Carry on ur study of MBBS with full zeal and vigour. Don't b seriouly involved in research while ur study. This is time of forming a firm-base for ur PG-ship. So, study BMS in detail, as possible as u can.
5. Also study some books of research to set ur mind for reseach
6. Do read medical journal of international standard so as to set ur mind for that how international minds of padagogy or erudition tackle research on any topic
7. Do read a book in urdu, I will tell u later on. That book will reveal u that how tha Nobel prize winners worked.
