Prevention of Atherosclerosis at an early age in Pakistani children.
Pak Paed J Jan ;30(2):63-79.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is increasingly prevalent in Pakistan. Certain risk factors (RF) have been identified which have a strong association with the CHD. These risk factors are generated by genetic and environmental interaction, have been shown to be present in childhood and tend to track to adulthood. Modification of RF has been shown to reduce the incidence of CHD the adult population. The purpose of this review is to discuss the method of detection, rationale and means of modification of RF at an early age so as to prevent development of CHD at a later age and finally to prioritize various available preventive strategies.
