Analysis of unnatural Death in Rawalpindi during 1997.

215 postmortem examinations were conducted in the mortuary of District Head Quarter Hospital, Rawalpindi from 1st. January to 31st December 1997. The data available in record was analyzed, keeping in view different variables including sex, age, weapon used, mode and cause of death. Alleged poisoning cases and so-called external postmortem cases (which are disposed off without autopsy), were not included in the study. The incidents of firearm killings was at the top (53%). Most of the victims were males (87%) in third and fourth decades of life (47.43%). These findings will help the personnel involved in investigation, judiciary and medicolegal work.
