Perinatal and Maternal Outcome of Eclamptic Patients admitted in Nishtar Hospital, Multan.

Perinatal and maternal mortality and morbidity from eclampsia was evaluated in hospitalized women at Nishtar Hospital, Multan during the period of one year from February, 1995 to January, 1996. Sixtyfour patients were admitted with eclampsia. Majority of patients were primigravidae aged between 21-30 years having gestational age of more than 28 weeks in >90%. Maternal mortality ratio was 5.2/1000 live births and of this total 41.2% were contributed by eclamptic patients. Almost ail patients suffered some form of morbidity and 28.8% babies were stillborn.
