Diagnosis Management and Outcome of Placenta Previa.

The prevalence of placenta praevia and the characteristics of the patients with placenta praevia were studied among deliveries conducted between November 1988 and October 1990. The prevalence of placenta praevia was 0.51%. The prevalence of placenta praevia showed an increase with age; the highest number of the patients (38.8%) was between 31-36 years and the lowest between 26-29 years (16.7%). More than a quarter of patients (27.7%) had the first episode of bleeding between 29-33 weeks. In this series, 22.35% of the patients had malpresentations and 27.8% patients had history of one or more caesarean sections.
