Pak Paed J Jan ;36(2):104-6.

Polyneuropathy in childhood can be of varied etiology, the commonest being Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). However, Diphtheritic neuropathy should be considered in differential diagnosis because in our country, diphtheria continues to occur and the clinical signs are similar to those seen in the Guillain-Barré syndrome. Diphtheritic polyneuropathy is a well-recognized and dangerous complication of diphtheria, especially its severe forms with bulbar and respiratory tract involvement. We present a 7-year-old boy clinically diagnosed to be diphtheritic polyneuropathy and who required ICU management.
