Sonographic Assessment of Renal Length in normal Pakistani children.
Mother & Child Jan ;37(2):45-50.

The kidney sizes were assessed in 200 children aged between I day and 14 years without any renal pathology, at Children Hospital and Institute of Child Health, Lahore by using real time ultrasound. The mean renal lengths of right and left kidneys were calculated and their relationship with body length, body weight and body surface was determined. The mean renal lengths gave linear relationship with age, body length, body weight and body surface area. The left kidney showed slightly higher values as compared to those of right kidney. On the whole the mean values of renal length in our Pakistani children are smaller, than those derived from those of right kidney. On the whole the mean values of renal length in our Pakistani children are smaller, than those derived from regression equation for American children.
