Effects of partial endometrial resection on menstural blood loss.
Pak J Obstet Gynaecol Jan ;8(1):13-4.

This study was carried out in Karachi National Hospital, Karachi. 50 patients were selected with history of heavy periods, who were although on progestogen and prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors for atleast 3 months for the control of heavy periods but didnot respond to the treatment. Out of 50 endometrial ablations performed, 46 patients had hyperplasia, out of which 32 had normalization of periods while 10 had complete amenorrhea after 2 months. Four patients had a submucous fibroid. Our results confirmed that partial endometrial resection is very effective in normalization of menstural flow in majority of patients. It is therefore suggested that Trans Cervical Resection of Endometrium (TCRE)is a method of choice for controlling heavy menstural blood loss.
