Complications of extracorporal shock wave Lithotripsy in Peadiatric Urolithiasis.

In the present study, twenty five patients of either sex and below twelve years of age presenting with renal, ureteric or bladder stone of size between 5-20 mm along their long axis were included to find out complications of ESWL. Male to female ratio was 1.2:1. Renal, ureteric and vesical stone cases were 52%, 12% and 36% respectively. After lithotripsy session, pain was felt by 40% patients. Cutaneous bruising and minor skin laceration developed in 12% patient. Nausea & vomiting occurred in 48% patients. High grade fever occurred in 4%, haematuria in 76. 9% patients of renal & 33% patients with ureteric stone. Retention of urine developed in 4% patients. Steinstrasse was observed in 7. 6% patients with renal stones.
