Clinical Profile of Patients Referred with Acute Myocardial Infarction.

It is generally believed that Coronary artery disease is a disease of older age group. In fact, it is prevalent in all sections, classes of society and is increasingly becoming more common in the younger age group. We studied the clinical profile of 664 patients referred with chest pain and a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction. The most common risk factor was cigarette smoking, (43.07%). Hypertension was present in 28.61% and diabetes mellitus in 22.59%. Family history was positive in 13.85%.
