Intralesional Steroid Therapy.
J Pak Assoc Derma Jan ;11(4):26-34.

Intralesional therapy is an unique dermatological treatment modality. When topical therapy is ineffective, it is possible to treat skin lesions by intradermal injections directly into the lesions. A variety of drugs can be used in this manner such as bleomycin, stibogluconate, interferons, corticosteroids, amphotericin-B, 5-flurouracil etc. Of all these, corticosteroids are the most commonly used today. Intralesional corticosteroid (CS) permits the placement of considerably higher concentration of the drug at the diseased site, without significant systemic administration. This may be a valuable therapeutic modality in situations where topical CS are not suitable for use, either because of low potency and inefficient epidermal barrier penetration or in clinical conditions associated with epidermal atrophy (e.g. DIE).
