Surgical management of anterior hypospadias, our experience with snodgrass repair technique.

Objective: To evaluate short term result of tabularized incised plate urethroplasty as described by Snodgrass in anterior hypospadias. Study Design: It is a prospective study. Material and methods: Th is study was conducted at surgical (A) unit Mardan Medical Complex Teaching Hospital Mardan from April 2010 to December 2013, on patients with anterior hypospadias without chordae. 33 patients with age range of 3 to 10 years were included in the study, with a mean age of 5.1 years. Inclusion criteria were anterior distal shaft hypospadias with good urethral plate and exclusion criteria were association with chordae and history of previous surgery. 24 patients had coronal and sub coronal hyposdias while 9 had glandular hypospadias. Th e entire length of urethral plate was incised along the midline and new urethra was formed around size 6 to 8 Fr stent. New urethra was covered with subdartos fascia. Pressure dressing with Sofra-Tulle was done in all cases. Results: Complications encountered during the study were urethrocutaneous fi stula formation 9.1%, Meatal stenosis in 6.5%, Glandular dehiscence in 3.03%. Th e total rate of complications in our study was 18%. Conclusions: Th e Snodgrass repair for anterior hypospadias has excellent cosmetic and functional results. Complications rate is low as compared to other procedures.
