J Pak Dent Assoc Jan ;11(2):107-12.

To present management of an extruded immature maxillary left permanent central incisor following trauma and a 10-year follow-up. Patient was seen by the pediatric dentist 10 hours following trauma. The extruded tooth was repositioned and splinted to prevent further damage to the pulp and periodontal structure during the healing period. Patient was scheduled for splint removal after two weeks. The patient did not keep his follow-up appointment and came 5 months after the accident with the splint in place. The splint was removed and vitality test revealed a positive response. Radiographic examination revealed no evidence of any abnormality. Pain brought the patient back after 3.4 years and radiographic examination revealed a periapical radiolucency. Calcium hydroxide root canal treatment was initiated. Later, the tooth was permanently obturated with gutta percha 18 months after placement of calcium hydroxide and initiation of apexification. Follow-up examination 10 years after completion of endodontic therapy revealed satisfactory apical healing and healthy supporting tissues and showed a favorable response.
