Nd: YAG Laser Posterior Capsulotomy.
Pak J Ophthalmol Jan ;12(1):3-7.

We report our initial experience of YAG laser posterior capsulotomy in 86 eyes at the Department of Ophthalmology, Civil Hospital, Karachi. 56 (65%) of these eyes were pseudophakic with posterior chamber implants and one with anterior chamber implant. 29 (33.7%) were aphakic eyes. visual improvement was noted in all but 13 (15.1%) eyes. 20 eyes (23.25%) showed a significant rise in in traocular pressure (IOP) of more than 5 mm Hg. IOP In all these eyes returned to baseline level after one week of treatment with 0.5% levobunolol. Retinal detachment resulted after treatment in 2 (2.3%) eyes. Two eyes which were pseudophakic, had large posterior capsulotomies done prior to retinal reattachment surgery. Nd: YAG laser has proved to be an effective tool for the management of posterior capsular opacification.
