IOL Implantation in Patients with Fuchs` Uveitis Syndrome.
Pak J Ophthalmol Jan ;14(2):58-61.

Fuchs` Uveitis syndrome is a chronic intraocular disease affecting approximately 3% of all patients presenting with uveitisl. The etiology is unknown but an immunologic basis is suspected2. The most common cause of visual loss is cataract which commences In the posterior subcapsular area. There are many studies which describe the complications and visual outcome following cataract extraction in patients with Fuchs` uveitis, with or without IOL implantation. We describe our experience in 17 such patients who underwent cataract extraction. 11 patients were implanted with IOL after extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) and 6 patients received IOL after phacoemulsification. 15 patients achieved a visual acuity of 6112 or better, 2 had postoperative hyphema which cleared gradually without leaving any sequelae, while 2 had severe postoperative uveitis.
