We report an eight-year-old boy with typical picture of lice infestation of eyelashes associated with chronic blepharitis.

CASE REPORT: An eight-year-old boy presented to the Department of Ophthalmology, Unit I, at Services Hospital, Lahore, with persistent and intense itching of both eyelids for 3-4 weeks. Past history regarding any sexual abuse and ocular or systemic illness was not significant. On examination signs of blepharitis were evident, including inflammation, erythema and broken cilia. Follicular conjunctivitis was also quite marked. Preauricular lymphadenopathy and secondary bacterial infection of the lid margins were also present. The adult louse was brown to gray in color, somewhat translucent and was present at the base of the eyelashes, grasping two adjacent cilia. The nits or eggs were oval and rather transparent, and cemented to the hair shafts a few millimeters from their bases. Other hairy areas of the body were examined, particularly the scalp and the pubic area, but no nit or crab louse was discovered. The siblings and parents of the patient were also examined and found free from lice.
