A study of phaco-endophthalmltls was done on 78 cases over a period of 6 months from 1-9-1996 to 1-31-997. A majority, (45, i.e. 58%) were males. For most of them (48, i.e. 61.5%) It was surgery on the second eye. Fifty-six cases (71.8%) had posterior chamber IOLs. Seven cases (9%) had anterior chamber IOLs. Fifteen cases 119.2%1 were aphakics. The degree of anterior uveitis was noted especially 5-6 days postoperatively. The amount of residual lens matter was recorded and photographed. These cases were treated with systemic steroids together with topical steroids. The study showed that 75 cases (96.1%) had good results and satisfactory resorption of the lens matter. Anterior uveltis was well controlled. In two cases lens matter had to be aspirated. In one case a broad Iridectomy had to be performed to relieve complete posterior synechiae and pupillary block.
