CT & MRI of Renal Neoplasia.

Simple renal cysts are the most common space occupying lesions. They are usually asymptomatic, only when they become extremely large and cause pressure, or bleed, or get infected do they become symptomatic. Sonographic findings are usually classical and the need for another imaging modality to verify the diagnosis seldom arises. On CT simple renal cysts have a sharp margin, smooth thin wall, homogenous water density contents with HU values ranging from 0-20, and no contrast enhancement after administration of contrast. On MRI simple renal cysts are similar to CT being well marginated water density homogenous lesions. Hypointense on T1 and hyperintense on T2 weighted images. This is a review article.
